Last night I was very kindly invited to The Ice Bar's 10th year anniversary.
Kicking off the Autumn season with a super chilly post. The very lovely Ice Bar London team invited me along to their press opening of the bar's new Rock theme and also 10th year anniversary. The Ice Bar is located on Heddon street just off Regent Street. Everything inside the bar is made entirely out of ice from the Torne river in the north of Sweden. Every year the bar is redesigned with a funky new theme, this year's being Ice Bar London Rocks.
We started the evening off with some fresh cocktails and delicious canapés followed by a couple speeches from Tom Hunter and Jens Ivarsson. We learnt how the ice is shipped all the way from Sweden and takes about five days to create the bar's interior - but it's really something you have to experience in person. After the speeches (and more canapés and cocktails) we headed upstairs to see the bar for ourselves. Draped in bright blue cloaks and thick padded gloves we waddled into the icy blue mist to see the completely transformed interior. Huge skulls, stars, drum kits and a highly detailed tattooed lady designed by Joey Hi-Fi greeted us. If that doesn't sound exciting enough, how about ten year old Pommery champagne served in ice cold glasses...because even the glasses are made of ice! Take a peak at the photos below to grasp the intricate detail.
The Ice Bar very kindly spoilt us rotten, however normal entry is only £14.50 including a drink in one of their infamous ice glasses. You are allocated 40 minutes per visit to the bar which may not sound like very long but trust me your fingers are toes will thank you later. So what are you waiting for?
Have you been to The Ice Bar before?
