Love at first bite over at Patty & Bun.
Uhhhhhh I love love love Patty & Bun. Every time I go, it's even better than I remember. There are currently two branches one on James Street, near bond street tube and one on Liverpool Street. The James Street one is the best. So naturally when my pals from uni came for a merry trip to London, I dragged them straight there.
There are 6 different burgers and 1 special which they change up every so often (pssst P&B bring back the Mr. Miyagi burger!) We ordered two Smokey Robinsons, one Ari Gold, one Jose Jose Chili Burger and a round of fries.
It's very casual, minimalistic, no plates and plain brown napkins (you're gunna need em) which I like. That way the focus is on the food and not the décor, but whatevs that's just a personal preference.
Your little bundle of joy arrives neatly wrapped in a cosy paper bed, eagerly waiting to be ripped open and dived into. I had the Smokey Robinson which is my fave - beef patty, cheese, tomato, lettuce, caramelised onions, bacon, ketchup, smokey P&B mayonnaise all served in a brioche bun.
Feast your eyes on this! It is smothered head to toe in sauce and the patty itself is so tender and juicy. The sauces run down your fingers as you take a bite, so yes you'll definitely be needing those napkins! It could so easily be sloppy but it's not as the brioche bun hugs it all together.
It's so ridiculously tasty - it should be illegal.
And the fries. Uh. This photo doesn't do them justice. The rosemary salt is such a winner for me. They also give you a selection of sauces (ketchup, hot sauce etc) in case you didn't already have enough sauce from the burger to dunk your fries into. I really like thin skin-on fries but I know they're not everyone's favourite, however these little guys are oh so delectable and a must try.
If like me, you enjoy a super saucy, oozing burger this is the place for you. They ask you how you'd like your burger cooked which is always good. They do other sides too such as the "Thunder Thighs" and "Winger Winger Chicken Dinner". Really wacky, interesting combinations and different specials every so often so you can expect something new each time you visit.
Queue: I visited on a Sunday at 12:30pm and was seated straight away. It's so popular and well known that the queues can be outrageous, so plan your visit wisely.
Price: For a burger, drink and fries it's less that £15 which is phenomenal for the amount of grub you get. Warning: You will be seriously full.
Ambience: Awesome tunes (as I previously said, if they play Justin Timberlake you know it's a gooden), very casual, friendly staff, messy food so perhaps not a first date kinda thing or business meeting.
Currently, P&B is leading in The Burger Adventure!
