Honestly, a cracking place to try.
I have a list as long as my arm in my notebook of restaurants, cafes, bars and burger joints in London that I want to try. I've recently started working in London (yay!) and am hoping to move there in the coming months. I'll be able to blog lots more and maybe even make it at least half way down my list. Honest Burgers has been recommended to me by countless friends from all walks of life, so I thought it was about time to put it to the test. I met up with an old friend from Disney and ventured over to the Liverpool Street branch.
I really like Honest's story about two best friends who decided in 2010 to start serving burgers at events and festivals. And look at them now! They have 9 different locations around London. The interior is plain and simple, with my all time favourite open kitchen to peak at your burgers cooking away (oops he caught me snapping a pic). The menu is so simple and I love it. You choose chicken, beef or a veggie option. There's only one chicken option and one vegetarian option. But for beef you can choose the standard Beef, Cheese, Tribute, Honest or Backyard burger which I believe is a special just for the summer. All meals come with rosemary chips. Extra side orders and dips can also be chosen. Drinks-wise they do some wicked cocktails, which I couldn't resist. I had the Kamms Summer Tonic which was wonderfully refreshing. No milkshakes however, to my disappointment.
I chose the Tribute burger - beef patty, bacon, american cheese, pickles, onions, lettuce, burger sauce and mustard sauce. The patty comes on the rare side of medium which is PERFECT for me, but if you like your burgers a little darker I'm sure they could accommodate. The burger was dripping in sauces. I can't stand dry food, especially burgers so this was a real winner for me. However, the burgers are on the slightly smaller size than other places I've visited. The rosemary chips were delicious but a wee bit too salty for my taste. The only downside to the whole experience was that it took too long to place our order. We were seated promptly and offered drinks fairly quickly but it took nearly 30 minutes to get down to ordering the food. Our waiters couldn't have been more friendly but perhaps a little bit more attentive.
In my honest opinion (ha ha I am so witty), I think Honest Burgers is a definite one to add to the list, everything was very tasty and great quality. I personally think they should have more options to add extra ingredients to be able to customise your burger.. Also, milkshakes. Milkshakes are a necessity. But hey, for £15 you can't go wrong.
Queue: I visited the Liverpool Street branch on a Friday around 7pm and was seated straightaway. The restaurant was pretty busy and you can't book a table.
Price: The burgers range from £7-£10 but that also includes your chips. For a cocktail, burger and chips it cost £15. Bargain!
Ambience: Fun atmosphere, no frills, just good burgers.
Have you visited Honest Burgers, what was your honest opinion?
