It appears Winter is upon us, well in London anyway. But that doesn't mean you can't indulge on an occasional scoop of ice cream without the sunshine. Simply Ice Cream are a Kent-based artisan ice cream company who believe 'natural food tastes best'. They sell over twenty different ice cream flavours and four sorbets. Now you know me, I usually opt for the crazy, unheard of flavour. If you read my burger reviews you'll know how much I adore unique flavour combinations and unusual pairings. But isn't it nice sometimes to reign it all in and have something...simple. I sampled a range of the ice cream flavours with Lemon curd, Honeycomb and Pistachio coming out on top. The pistachio was a lovely pale green colour - not like those luminous green scoops you often see on holiday. A smooth, creamy texture disrupted by the occasional crunchy pistachio. Bliss. They do have some wacky seasonal flavours such as Christmas Pud if you do fancy trying something out of the box.
They say liquid nitrogen makes the best ice creams as it prevents ice crystals from forming, as the freezing process is so rapid. But come on, is liquid nitrogen really that accessible to the average joe? In my humble opinion if you want a super creamy ice cream without becoming Heston Blumenthal, Simply Ice Cream fits the bill.
*Simply Ice-Cream very kindly sent me these samples free of charge.
They're delicious. It's £4.99 for a 500ml tub which you can grab from Waitrose. It's more expensive than an average Ben & Jerry's tub but why not splash out for a dinner party or Saturday indulgent night in? Have a look at their range of flavours and give your taste buds something to tingle about.
