I wish I'd made this into a gif to show the sheer amount of cheese.
December is a time for sharing, most importantly when it comes to food. The countless Christmas events and last minute scramble to find a New Year's party can be a drag on our finances and also our mental state. Especially when desperately trying to impress our friends with miniature-sized dishes and canapés, that are too fiddly and lets be honest, not that great. So how about this winter, try making my stress-free and hassle-free, Pull-Apart Pizza Pan. Little rolls of pizza hugging each other smothered in oozing, gooey cheese. Sound like your kinda thing? Perfect, it's so simple to whip up. This recipe does require some proving time, so make sure you have a couple hours spare.
Preheat Oven: 200 degrees
500g strong flour
1 packet/7g dried yeast
300ml warm water
Pinch of salt
Oil to line the bowl
500g passata tomato sauce
2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
3 basil leaves
Pinch of salt
Pinch of pepper
1 ball mozzarella
200g grated cheddar cheese
Firstly, begin by making your pizza dough. To see a step by step guide of this, have a peak at my other recipe here. Once the dough is smooth and elasticy, leave to prove for one hour with a warm tea-towel covering the bowl. Whist the dough is proving, create the tomato sauce. In a pan on a high heat add the passata, basil, pepper, salt and balsamic and bring to the boil. Blitz together with a blender and bring down to a low heat. After the dough has expanded, flour a clean surface then roll the dough out into an oval shape.
Evenly distribute half the amount of tomato sauce all over the pizza base then sprinkle half the amount of cheddar cheese over the top. Roll one side of the pizza over itself and continue until you are left with a sausage shape. Chop the ends off, then slice into even sized pieces - aim for around 20 pieces. Stand the pieces upright in a pan so they touch each other. Pour the remainder of your sauce over the top of the pieces to soak into any gaps. Scatter the mozzarella over the top and the leftover cheddar cheese.
Bake for 25 minutes until golden and melted.
Pretty easy to make, inexpensive and fun for a party or get together.
Have you ever made pull-apart pizza before or something similar?
