Back again with a brunch twist on burgers.
I wrote a post a while back about Meet Burger. If you haven't seen it, take a butchers here. Meet Burger is sneakily sat away down Clay Pipe Jitty in Loughborough (sorry Londoners!), and yes you guessed it, they serve burgers. I wonder if there's an AA group but for burgers I should join? Anyhoo, one of the owners Craig dropped me an email, kindly asking me to come try their new brunch menu. He referred to me as a "seasoned burger eater" so how could I say no?
I love brunch. It's kind of like an 'anything goes' meal. You want a fry up? Sure. But you also want lemonade? Sure. And some cereal? Naturally. With a side of chips? Hell yes. Besides good old Wetherspoons, I haven't discovered many great brunch places in Loughborough - although there are a couple I have my eyes on, so watch this space. But for now, Meet Burger has it pretty well covered.
The brunch menu is simple, 7 different muffins to choose from. Packed full of sausage, bacon and egg, while still sticking to their burger identity. They serve homemade iced tea and lemonade, unlimited refills of coffee, and about 10 different teas, which is pretty tea-riffic.
About 8 of us ventured down and opted for the homemade lemonade and tea in old timey-wimey cups and jars.
Down to the grub. Pretty much all of us ordered The Triple Muffin - sausage patty, 4 rashers of bacon and a fried egg. Perfectly oozing, runny yolk (just how I like it), stuffed with meat, meat and more meat all hugged together with a fluffy bun. This time they're served on frisbees instead of old records.
If you're on the look out for an inexpensive brunch that will leave you seriously full, Meet Burger's the one to go for.
Queue: 8 of us hungry hippos visited the first morning brunch was available at about 11am. We were seated straight away with zero wait.
Price: We used our 50% off email, so for a muffin + a drink it was just under £5 each. Bargain!
Thoughts: I think it's great Meet Burger have decided to branch out into brunches. We all loved the muffins and thought they fitted well with the burger theme. I think they should offer some alternative dishes maybe some cereals, or a veggie dish, maybe a hash brown or two - although this may be tricky to keep up their burger image. I definitely think they should offer milkshakes on the menu for both brunch and dinner. Who doesn't love milkshakes!
